'Please join the XPECT Leadership participants in providing Books to underprivileged children of Accra, Ghana this New Year’s Eve!

In December 2009, during the XPECT Leadership Program, participants will be working to build and decorate book boxes that will be donated to children at the St. Mary’s Anglican Church of James Town, The Osu Children’s Home, and other reputable youth organizations.
We need help to reach our goal of 2000 books. And you can help. How? Bring a new or used book to iSA Ghana (0243-880-878), Your iSA School Rep, Or drop them off in the bins on the assigned dates below.

December 5th, 12th, & 19th, -
Frankies, Busy Internet, and the Accra Mall. Bins will be placed by the entrance.

The XPECT Leadership Program participants will be building and decorating these boxes on the Wednesday, 30th December 2009.
The presentation will be done during the iStandAbove community service day event on Saturday, 2nd January 2010.

The children receiving the books range in age from 5 -16 years.

These individuals may have the best talent amongst their peers across the globe, but may be oppressed by pressures beyond their control, not allowing them to fulfill their dreams. These adversities may range from not having the resources available to live up to one’s potential, to not being exposed to the plethora of opportunities in life. These individuals are the future leaders of the world and the aim of iStand Above is to provide assistance and exposure, two of the most important ingredients in pursuit of success, to our future leaders through aid, informational sessions applicable to school, work and social life.

To add to all that please bring your old basketball sneakers and clothes that you no longer have use for as it will be very useful to a needy person in Africa. There will be a donation bin on site that you may just drop it in.

Rules/Format of The Tournament:

There will be 2 halves for each game. 15 minute per half with 2, 30 second timeouts each for each team. There will be 2 referees present to make foul calls. Foul Calls will be standard but not too strict as NBA standard but free throws will be awarded. For the finals however, there will be 4 quarters, 10 minutes each quarter and 1 timeout each per quarter. Since all final gmes are intense there will be 4 referees for this game and fouls called will be more strict.


Participation Details:

Price for participating teams for this event is 150(this is the fee for the first 10 teams to register. Fee is set to go up after the 10th team. Early registration is highly recommended per team with 7 players per team for the 5-on-5 tournament and $10 each for the 3 point shoot-out. All fans and other guests will have free admission.

'We are looking to cast an attractive African Girl between the ages of 18 to 29 (or at least looks so) to play the female lead in our movie. This one no be model contest oh…Ladies please take note …ACTING ABILITY IS REQUIRED! So if you or someone you know has a passion for acting, we would love to see what you’ve got!

We anticipate that this will be the hardest role to fill, which is why we are opening up our casting call to African Girls from all over the world.

Please keep in mind that you must be available to shoot your scenes both in the U.S. and Nigeria for a month starting at the end of May, 2009 (we are willing to tweak the shooting dates a little for the right girl). THIS IS A PAID ROLE PLUS ALL TRAVEL & BOARDING EXPENSES WILL BE COVERED!
