THE MANNEQUIN ACADEMY is an organization formed by Deborah V. Owusu-Bonsu (First Runner up Miss Malaika Ghana 2004) and Vanessa Bolosier (Face of Sleek Make Up Europe), two successful models and entrepreneurs.
This academy formed by Ghanaian/Romanian Deborah and Guadeloupian Vanessa, both Master Degree holders in Book and Magazine Publishing respectively, aims at educating aspiring models on the career path that they choose. Although they are focused on publishing, they are also into marketing, PR, health and beauty, fashion, copywriting, wedding planning, designing and modeling.
Deborah V. Owusu-Bonsu, a friendly, fun and creative young woman who started modeling at the age of eleven in Ghana has cat walked for the best fashion designers in Ghana such as Mawuli Kofi Okudjeto and Jimmy Delaja at huge shows like Kiddafest and the Golden Tulip PlayBack Show. She was also a member of Lafayette Modeling School when she cat walked for the designer of Cuddling Fashions, showcased for Collectibles boutique and was featured in P&P, a Ghanaian newspaper about people and places in Ghana when she was just 13 years young. During that same period she was one of the lead dancers in a commercial dancing group called Butterfly 7, which was owned by the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra, Ghana.
Before then, she had done TV advertisements for Europcar in Ghana and one for the release of the New Refresh fruit drink ‘Let’s Twist It’ and went on to do a TV advertisement for a TV channel called TV3 in Ghana as well.
Deborah has been featured in video clips for African artists such as Sasha Marley and Wanlov the Kubolor and also for Romanian male group, Animal X. She trained to dance with Romania’s 'Britney Spears', Andrea Balan, for a while after which she formed her own R&B dance group of about 14 girls in Romania which toured Romanian cities for about six months in 2003, raising funds for charity in her town, Ploiesti.
Also because of her suave, confidence and originality, she has been featured in magazines such as Orijin, BHF and Ovation. In 2004, she was 1st Runner Up for a beauty pageant and reality TV show known as Miss Malaika, which portrayed beauty of African Origin and was shown on MNet TV all over Africa for a year as well as TV3 in Ghana. Right after that, she went on to model for Woodin Fabrics for a year, appearing in their promotional publications and in their shops and also cat walked for Ghana Textiles Print (GTP), which was live on TV3 in Ghana.
Now in the UK, Debbie has cat walked for upcoming designers such as Baruch and Charlene Amankwah and has worked with professional photographers such as David Gibson. With her patience, experience and humility, Deborah is someone you would surely love to work with.
Her close friend and business partner, Vanessa Bolosier, a successful international model, started her modeling career in Paris working with famous photographers that fell in love with her unique look and features. Pictures they took of her were used for the covers of numerous magazines including Nikon Pro.
Vanessa’s credentials are never-ending and she has traveled around the world to please brands that wanted her and her only! She worked for luxury brands like Graff Diamonds, Christian Linares and Hermes, appearing in numerous music videos including one of artist, Jamelia.
Her face was used by beauty brands like Boots 17, Maybelline New York, Activilong, Sleek Make Up, Sally Salon Services, but she also did campaigns for Courvoisier, Alfa Romeo, Von Dutch and Heineken, worked as a runway model for highly recognized designers like Imane Ayissi and Xuly Bet.
Vanessa also graced the covers, as well as fashion and beauty spreads, of several highly recognized publications like Look Magazine, Pride Magazine, Black Hair, as well as French publications like Shenka, Kissina, Golden and Miss Ebene, she was the face of the Carmen Opera South Bank Centre, appeared in commercials for Sky, E-on, and was recently featured in This Morning.
Her extensive contact base including casting directors, numerous modeling agencies, magazines and cosmetics brands as well as her ongoing long years of experience as a model, fashion reporter but also as a modeling competitions judge make her the ideal speaker to give aspiring models all the clues they need to start they career in the right path.
EXACTLY WHAT THE 'MANNEQUIN ACADEMY IS OFFERING...?!?! The Mannequin Academy is offering a full day intensive course for aspiring models. This Master Class is a unique opportunity to benefit from a thorough insight in modeling and help start your career with as much knowledge in the field as possible.
It is a one-day modeling workshop organized by professional models, which have 20 years of experience between them in all areas of the modeling industry. At this workshop, industry professionals will be present to scout models.
